Bench Series

January 25th, 2011

Lonely Bench (part of my bench series gallery)For some reason benches have always fascinated me. They always seem like they have so many stories to tell. So normally if I find an interesting bench or a bench in a good setting I try to capture it. I have started building a bench series gallery for these photos that I take. Hopefully you will find some as interesting as I do and you can see what stories come to mind when you view them.

Park Cities, UT Here I Come

January 12th, 2011

My friends and I are fixing to head to Park Cities, UT for a snowboarding trip. This is one reason I have been quiet lately. I didn’t want to start anything new till I was sure I would have enough time to setup everything and also to edit everything. So I’ve just been relaxing since the new year and waiting.

I’ve set aside a couple days on the trip to just head out and take some landscape pictures. I’m hoping to really capture the beauty of the mountains and the area. It’s been snowing a lot up there so hopefully I can get some great winter shots. Unfortunately I don’t have any models lined up to do any shoots out there or that would really make the trip that much better! In any case it should be a fun trip and I hope to come back with a lot of photos for the landscape section of my portfolio. If anyone knows of any good areas to get some shots please feel free to email me and let me know.

Total Eclipse of December 2010

December 22nd, 2010
Orange Moon from lunar eclipse as seen from Dallas

The moon turned orange after it was completely in the Earth's shadow. View is from Dallas, TX

Tonight I had the opportunity to witness a very special treat. There was a total lunar eclipse. Although they aren’t that rare, for one to occur during the winter solstice is. The last time one occurred was said to be on December 21, 1638. It was a beautiful event. I also used this opportunity to expand upon my photography. With my camera and tripod in hand, I headed up to the roof of my apartment complex and setup for the night.

The eclipse began close to 1am. The whole event lasted till about 4am in the morning. Unfortunately there were clouds that effected the quality of the images. I think overall they were pretty good. I could have used a little more zoom on my lens, but it did the job.

I shot the pics with a Canon 5D Mark II with the EF 70-200mm L lens. The shots were a little difficult because the moon was almost directly overhead. Luckily I was able to use a fast enough shutter speed in the beginning to take the pics by hand. Once the sun was completely blocked from the moon there wasn’t much light. I was forced to use a tripod and my remote shutter release to capture the moon going orange. It was well worth it.

I want to eventually do something artistic with the composition of the pics, but in the mean time I posted the pics on my personal blog (Fedil’s Blog). They are pretty much straight from the camera. The only processing done was to crop them. I hope you enjoy!!! :)

Amanda

October 14th, 2010

AmandaFinally got around to doing another shoot. This time with my friend Amanda. Another blonde that warmed up to being in front of the camera. She was nice enough to come over the other night and we got to do a couple different outfits. It was late but we both had a lot of fun with it. I think we will end up doing another shoot with some different looks. I plan to get a few of these processed by the weekend and post it to my portfolio.

Looking for new models

October 7th, 2010

I’m looking for beginning models or girls that want to get started in modeling. Right now I’m trying to build up my portfolio and would like to help out other beginners by trading services. Would love to find someone that enjoys or wants to do glamour, lingerie, swimsuit, and portraits. Halloween is coming up so some fun costume photoshoots would be nice too. For your time I’ll take the photos, process and touch them up, and provide them on a CD. So if you are interested please contact me and we can see what we can work out.
